Perfect Products Welcomes Featured Rider Holly Hudspeth!
A seasoned three day event rider and trainer, Holly is a Rolex veteran, a consistent competitor in upper level eventing, and a busy and popular coach. Originally from Minnetonka, Minnesota, Holly is now based out of Equiventure Farm in Rougemont, North Carolina. She maintains a busy training barn, as well as her own program with her four-star mount Last Monarch, or “Stewie.” Holly and her husband Chuck own Stewie themselves, and in 2010 the pair finished 17th at the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* Three Day Event, and made the short list for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
In 2011, Holly gave birth to her first child, and after a brief break from the saddle, was back with an ambitious plan for 2012.
As she aims Stewie towards a return to Rolex this April, which will also serve as the main Olympic Qualifier for July’s London Olympic Games, Holly is seeking an edge in putting together the very best program that will carry her and Stewie all the way to top placings.
She found out about Perfect Products via two of her students, who were talking about products on the market and had heard good things. Holly reached out to Perfect Products in January of 2012, and with the help of general manager Jeff Morgenstern, put together a program to help Stewie reach his peak performance.
“The biggest results, I felt right off the bat,” says Holly. “He was more comfortable in his body and his back. He used to get more agitated when he was tacked up, and I just found that right away he was much quieter in the crossties and comfortable.”
Holly used a program of Lactalex and Perfegesic to assist Stewie’s muscle recovery and comfort levels, as well as GastroEase EQ as a preventative for overall gastric health.
“These event horses need to be all-around athletes,” she comments. “They are required to be supple and soft in dressage, tough and fit in cross country, and come back on Sunday to jump a clean show jumping round. Any little stomach ache or muscle soreness or tightness in their back will affect their peak performance.
“After being on the products a little over a month, Stewie finished strong at a preliminary event. He jumped really well, he recovered well, and he just felt good all around!” says Holly.
Perfect Products is thrilled to add Holly Hudspeth and Holly Hudspeth Eventing to its roster of talented Featured Riders. We wish Holly the best of luck as she aims for the stars this year, and will be there to support and encourage her along the way!

No, Thank You!
Hello,
I just wanted to take quick moment and thank you for your amazing products!!! I have a mare that has suffered from lameness issues ranging from extremely (head bobbing) lame to rideable but always slightly crooked and stiff. This has been going on for about 3+ years and unfortunately, I have struggled trying to keep her sound enough to train and show. I ordered your product Perfegesic a a couple weeks ago and started here on it last Thursday. I was amazed at the results!!! She is much sounder, using more of stride, has more rhythm and cadence and is way softer in her muscles. It was truly a blissful moment (brought tears to my eyes) for me to see her be the horse she has always had the potential to be!!!
I really appreciate your products and I want a way to help support your company; therefore, I'm going to tell everyone I know about my success with your products! Maybe someday I could even have a sponsorship with Perfect Products!
Happy Customer,
Pamila Thiel

Steffen's Superstar Weekend
After his banner year of incredible success with two top horses Ravel and Weltino’s Magic, Steffen was more than deserving of this incredible honor. With Ravel he won the 2011 World Dressage Masters championship in West Palm Beach, Florida (and is set to return to Florida in under two weeks to defend his title during the 2012 WDM), was reserve behind Totilas and Matthias Rath at the CDIO Aachen Grand Prix Freestyle, and dominated the US National Dressage Championships, winning the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle.
With up and coming superstar Weltino’s Magic, Steffen was equally dominant at the Intermediare I level, winning at Aachen during “Magic’s” first international competition at that level, and later winning the Intermediare National Championship at Gladstone, and dual Pan American gold medals in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Steffen atop the podium in Guadalajara, Mexico. Photo courtesy USEF The day before he flew to Cincinnati to be honored as Horseman of the Year, Steffen competed Ravel and a brand new grand prix mount at the Dressage Getaway in Thermal, California. Steffen just began riding Legolas, a 10-year-old Westfalen gelding, a month ago, but that didn’t stop him from scoring an 80.213% in the Grand Prix, placing second behind himself with Ravel, who scored several 10s on his trot half passes.
Steffen is the kind of rider that others stand back to admire, no matter their discipline. We are proud and more humbled than ever to know that Perfect Products, LLC is a part of his and wife Shannon’s winning program. Steffen and Shannon’s horses benefit from Lactalex, our formula that gives high level competition horses optimal muscle function and comfort support. The Peters also choose GastroEase EQ to give their star dressage horses the best gastric lining and digestive support.
As this Olympic year gets underway, we congratulate Steffen Peters on receiving the U.S. Equestrian Federation’s highest honor, and wish him all the best as he sets his sights on an appearance in London later this year!

Proud to Support the First-Ever AQHA Hunter Derby!
Organized by USEF-turned-AQHA hunter competitor Lainie DeBoer and David Warner, the derby series brings this popular class from the A-circuit world to the Quarter Horses.
Held at the Fox Lea Farm Winter Quarter Horse Show in Venice, Florida, the first $1,500 Huntfield Hunter Derby class was designed by Phil Devita Jr. and judged by Ann Pennington. Linda took home a gorgeous custom monogrammed cooler for her first place effort over the beautifully built out 3’0” derby course. The class was run in a two round hunter classic format, with several 3’3” option jumps. The second round was judged over a shortened handy course, and bonus points were awarded for each harder option taken.
Rider Kristen Hull was the top placing Non Pro in 6th, and took home a bonus $100 check and a leather engraved halter. Emily Smith was named the reserve placing Non Pro Exhibitor. The class was enthusiastically received by the exhibitors and spectators, and Perfect Products LLC is very proud to sponsor this exciting new addition to the Hunter divisions in the Quarter Horse world by being a “Master of the Hunt” series sponsor.
The Huntfield AQHA Hunter Derby Series will culminate in a Finals this summer. The next AQHA Hunter Derby is scheduled for February 18th at the Prairie Classic in Oklahoma City, OK.
Be sure to visit the Huntfield AQHA Derby Series facebook page and “like” it to follow the events of the AQHA derby series season!

Small Horse Rescue Making a Big Difference
Major has had his fair share of bad luck. Dropped suspensories and a persistent case of heaves means that he requires special care. These health issues played a part in decision of his owner surrendering him to a small but active equine shelter in Perry, Maine.
Rehabbed and rehomed once, Major was repossessed from his first adopter after checkups by First Light Farm Equine Shelter found that his condition had deteriorated and, in fact, the adopter had sold the horse in breach of contract. Through a series of fortuitous events, the shelter was able to locate and reclaim Major.
When he arrived back “home” at First Light Farm, he was in bad shape. Severely underweight, he was lame in both front legs and was having trouble breathing. Major needed specially soaked hay, a daily regimen of bute and corrective shoeing to manage his condition.
But as the woman at the helm of First Light Farm, Andrea Barstow isn’t in the habit of giving up on horses. In 2008 she began taking in horses after being made aware of the shortage of rescues in her county. With a team of volunteers, she cares for and rehabs half a dozen horses at a time, and has successfully rescued and found new homes for 26 horses since 2008.
“We get so many desperate calls from people in all sorts of situations,” says Andrea. “They are getting a divorce, they are being thrown out of their house, they have a horse that is too much for them to handle. We try to help as much as we can.”
Andrea and her three member board may be small, but they’ve fostered an impressive reach via their facebook page and website. The costs associated with rehabbing cases of neglect are staggering, but through online auctions, contests, and other creative fundraising efforts, First Light Farm is able to operate successfully and continue taking in horses in need.
“Every time we find a home for one, there are always a dozen waiting in line to fill that empty stall,” she adds.
Andrea is slowly expanding her services by helping to re-home needy horses that she can’t bring to her farm under the First Light Farm adoption contract. The contract restricts the adoptee from reselling or giving away their horse without notifying the rescue first.
Major (pictured above) is now enjoying gentle rides with FLF volunteers while Andrea seeks sponsors for his daily upkeep. Along with proper feed and daily attention, Andrea began feeding him Perfect Product’s GastroEase EQ to support his digestion and prevent the symptoms that often cause ulcers in horses. Since he began to receive GastroEase, he’s been maintaining healthy weight, and his improved gastrointestinal comfort is reflected in his attitude and his overall condition.
“I found out about GastroEase after one of our volunteers took my horse Zippy to a riding camp and came back with some GastroEase that a trainer had given her,” explains Andrea. “Zippy’s career until he was 17 was an AQHA Western Pleasure show horse. He’s a high anxiety horse who internalizes everything. He’s a really hard keeper and a cribber, and I’d tried some Ulcer Aid and homeopathic herbs with him, but nothing seemed to work. Within two to three days of going on GastroEase his cribbing reduced significantly, and I could see a huge difference on him.”
Major and Zippy aren’t the only horses at First Light Farm that have benefitted from GastroEase; Andrea has incorporated it into her program with great success. Fragile rescue horses need all the help they can get, and GastroEase has been a valuable addition to their regimen of care.
This holiday season, with news of unwanted horses and horse slaughter legislation making headlines, consider supporting the efforts of a state certified horse rescue. These organizations work against an endless tide to save countless lives each year. First Light Farm may be small, but they are making a huge impact in the lives of the horses they encounter. Be sure to visit firstlightfarm.org to view their available horses, and “like” First Light Farm on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/firstlightfarm) to see their latest fundraiser. Major is currently seeking sponsors.
